Installing Sliding French Patio Doors
Sliding French patio doors – To install patio doors French first remove the door from its packaging. This includes cardboard wrap and packaging, used as protection bubble. Keep track of all hardware including clips for hanging doors, plugs and shivs that come with the unit. Keep this in a separate container, as they are important for proper installation. Once done, check the door frame for cracks or damage. Then check the frame itself for possible problems. This includes nails or wedge plates in the framework and other obstructions.
Place sliding French patio doors in the area of the door frame by tilting upward at the inner end of the frame. Ask someone standing on the other side to make sure the doors is not staggered. Shimmy and slide doors places. Must perfectly fit into the framework, however there may be some differences between the top and sides of the door and frame. Once you are satisfied that the doors fit well, eliminate them and go to step 3.
Once the sliding French patio doors are level and square it’s time to install the interior and exterior trim. Place the moldings on the side of the door using a jackhammer. Use caulk as required under the molding. Outside, set the trim in place with a level to make sure it’s square. Seal and caulk the space around the frame and doors, then nail the molding directly to the posts of the door frame, just a few centimeters above the top of the patio doors.
