Double exterior doors – Thoroughly cleans the double exterior doors. Use a clean cloth and water mixed with detergent to remove dirt and grease. After cleaning, allow the double exterior doors sufficient time to dry completely. Remove the door from the door frame using a screwdriver. Remove any doors or drawers from furniture.
Lightly sand the double exterior doors with 150-grit sandpaper. A hand sander can accelerate this process significantly. Some parts of ornate furniture or doors will still need to be sanded by hand. Use a tack cloth to remove dust. Apply a thin layer of paint primer to it or die. Use the appropriate primer for your specific application. Outside doors should be primed with an exterior grade painting primer and most furniture and interior doors can typically be primed with a latex primer. Allow the primer to dry before painting.
Apply three thin coats of paint on the double exterior doors. Again, it is important to use the correct type of paint for various applications. Exterior doors or furniture should be painted with oil-based exterior grade paint and interior doors and furniture can be painted with latex. Let each coat dry before painting extra layer. Oil-based paint takes longer to dry than latex paint. Assemble furniture and re-attach the doors of the doorframes.
